Freshly Picked- Giveaway! *CLOSED*

IMG_0866 (1)

When I found out I was pregnant, and that it was a little boy, I just knew I had to get a pair of Freshly Picked moccasins.  I thought they were the cutest things ever, and loved that they were 100% genuine leather.  I knew the quality would be amazing- and they really are!  They are everything I hoped they would be, and I cannot wait to see my little guy wearing them!  I chose the color “granite” since it seemed to be a color that would work well with any outfit, and they really are the perfect shade of taupe/gray. I also got them in a size 1, since I would like my little guys to be able to wear them in the late summer/fall! I LOVE THEM!

Here is the best part!  Freshly Picked is giving a free pair (your choice of color and size) to one lucky reader of this blog!   All you have to do is leave a comment below telling me which color Freshly Picked moccasin you love the most!

The winner will be chosen at random on 3/30/15, and you have to live in the United States and must not have won a pair of Freshly Picked moccasins in the past 60 days.   GOOD LUCK!!!!

Update!

Since the last time I have blogged, not a lot has been going on.  We redid our living room, which I will do a separate post on (since I think it’s awesome), and are currently doing our master bedroom and nursery floors.  More to come on that as well.  It’s been a SLOW progression.  I think a lot of our energy was taken out on the kitchen, and we just need a break.  But nothing will force ya to get things done quite like a baby coming in 11 weeks.  You read that right, 11 weeks!!! That is insane.  I am officially in my third trimester and couldn’t be more excited.

Another big change is going to be taking place soon.  I will be leaving my full time job, to become a stay at home mom.  This is something that I have always known that I wanted, and to be able to have the opportunity to do so is such a blessing.  I decided that I would pick up an old hobby and start a YouTube channel again!  I used to have one back in college where I did a lot of makeup tutorials.  I ended up stopping it when I started working full time since a 40+ hour a week job was more than enough. I really regret stopping since it was something I truly loved doing.

I started this channel back up last week and hope to be able to post a video or two a week in the future!  I will also be keeping this blog to coordinate with that channel.  So if you see things switch up a bit, you know why!

I hope this is a change you are all excited to see, and hope you stick along with me!

xoxo,

Emily

So I’m the worst blogger ever…

Well, it’s official… I am the worst blogger in the history of bloggers.  Things got REALLY busy. I mean, REALLY REALLY busy.  Ill explain….

The kitchen.  Last time I updated you all, we were almost done with our kitchen renovation.  What I didn’t tell you was that I had also just found out I was pregnant… Yep, growing a human… Now that I am successfully into the second trimester (21 weeks) I feel okay telling everyone.  What I didn’t know was how intense the first trimester exhaustion would be.  I’m pretty sure that for 15 weeks straight, I would get home and pass out on the couch at 6:30pm.  It was a rough time.  Now imagine doing the kitchen while being exhausted… It was really rough.

BUT! The kitchen is done, and my energy has come back and things are great! I promise I will start updating this more regularly again.  Anyways, here are some updated pictures for you!

Kitchen Renovation- Floors

Sorry this post is coming so late!  So much has been going on in the Sunshine Corner! I will have LOTS of updates for you guys.  I know it has been about 2 months since my last post, and the kitchen is 90% done! And boy, does it look amazing!!  I left off with the kitchen as a blank slate,  everything demolished. We put up the drywall, and it was time for the floors!

This post is mainly about our massive floor overhaul!!  Since the original kitchen had tile floors, and the dining room has wood floors,  we decided to extend the hardwood floors throughout the entire space!  I love hardwood floors throughout a house, so it was a no brainer for me. We were going to simply cut back some of the original wood floors since they were “tongue and groove” and insert the new floors in, but that didn’t work out.  Since a wall was in between the two rooms, it caused some of the board to be cut weird, thus ruining the “tongue and groove”, resulting in us having to remove ALL of the floors and start over in the area.  It ended up working out great though. We also chose to go a different color than the rest of the house for stain.  Our current floors are a light honey maple color, and I really love a solid darker wood floor.  Luckily Matt was on board and we are planning on redoing the floors throughout the entire house- but one thing at a time!

We chose to use Minwax Stain in Dark Walnut.  We used one coat of the stain, with two coats of Minwax Super Fast Dry Polyurethane.   We seriously could not be any happier with how it looks!  I cannot wait to redo the rest of the house!

Also, keep in mind that we will be painting all of the trim white, so it looks funny for now.

I am so obsessed!

Look out for my next post!!! That may show where we are up date!!!

I hope you love it as much as I do!!!

Kitchen Demolition

Well, if you have read this blog before, you know that we were going to remodel our house, then got an offer to sell it, but that fell through, so back to remodeling!  I am happy that the offer fell through, because we love this house.  Our goal was to turn it into our dream house, and we are back at it!

We started this project very quickly, and a few days later- this is our progress!

The before of our kitchen.  All 1950’s style…

We decided to tear down the wall between the kitchen and the dining room to open the whole space up a bit.  It’s incredible how much better it looks!

So, this is where we are at! A whole lot of demo done, and a whole lot of dust!

We are 90% through the demolition. Maybe in my next post I will go through a list of what we have to do, and what we have finished.

Cross your fingers that this goes smoothly!

Do you have a crystal ball?

I just need a vent session- someone to complain to with an unbiased view.  Basically, I feel like a dumbass.  A few weeks ago, we were going to be redoing our kitchen and living in the house for a few years.  Then, the estimates started rolling in and we quickly realized that it wasn’t going to happen.  We decided to explore the idea of moving, since it was something that we knew we would have to do eventually.  The house is too small in general, with only 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom.  We thought maybe this was a sign to move!

Just a few days ago I was talking to my neighbor who was looking to move, and crazy enough, she had just sold her house to a builder who is flipping the houses in the neighborhood!  I thought it sounded like an incredible deal, so I reached out to them as well. Sure enough- he was interested in buying ours too!  It’s unbelievable!  He is willing to pay a lot more than we owe on the house, in cash!  Things like that don’t work out so easily in life! We said okay, agreed on the price and had the contract drawn up with a closing days set 90 days after the signatures.  We started looking at houses, talking to our realtor and attorney!  Then, the worst news ever came.

I was talking to our mortgage broker about the pre-approval amount and whatnot, and found out that due to Matt being self employed for less than a full year (only 8 months) he does not qualify for a mortgage loan! He is the one who makes the money! The loan officer said we can try on my salary alone, but that will just be a joke.  I mean, i get it.  Someone self employed is more risky, but if they dug around a little deeper, they would see that he goes through another company to be dispatched, so he does have a secure income!

I then found out from a friend who’s husband is an accountant, that the state taxes the crap out of a profit from selling a house if you didn’t own it for a full two years. Of course, we will own it for two years in November. I just cannot understand how everything can go SO right, and then fall apart.

I just feel like such a dumbass telling people what’s going on, and then telling them how it changed, AGAIN! I look like I have no idea what’s going- which I really don’t.  I need to just shut my mouth and not talk to people about stuff like that, but it’s hard for me because I am such a social and talkative person!

Has anyone gone through something like this? Any suggestions for me? I wish I could look into a crystal ball and see my future!

xoxo, Emily

My Wedding

We finally got all of our wedding pictures back, and I absolutely love them!  I thought I would attach a few here for you guys to see!  My favorite color is periwinkle, so that was the core of my planning, and I love how everything turned out! Funny, but I had no idea that “Radiant Orchid” was going to be the Pantone color of the year when I started planning almost 2 years ago!

My dress is Maggie Sottero “Camden”, and it was LOVE at first sight.  I saw the dress online and instantly knew!

The bridesmaid dresses are by Dessy

My shoes were my favorite! They were my “something blue” and they were by Glint

I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do! Let me know if you have any questions about anything!

xoxo,Emily
