My Wedding

We finally got all of our wedding pictures back, and I absolutely love them!  I thought I would attach a few here for you guys to see!  My favorite color is periwinkle, so that was the core of my planning, and I love how everything turned out! Funny, but I had no idea that “Radiant Orchid” was going to be the Pantone color of the year when I started planning almost 2 years ago!

My dress is Maggie Sottero “Camden”, and it was LOVE at first sight.  I saw the dress online and instantly knew!

The bridesmaid dresses are by Dessy

My shoes were my favorite! They were my “something blue” and they were by Glint

I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do! Let me know if you have any questions about anything!

Whoops…

So I thought I would have been blogging a lot about wedding planning, and final preparations and whatnot, and clearly, that didn’t happen.  Things got crazy busy with working and the wedding, and the blog sort of fizzled away off of my priority list.

Well, I just got back from my honeymoon, and let me tell you- it was amazing!!!

The whole wedding was perfect, the honeymoon was wonderful, and I can’t believe it is all over! I hope to get things going on a more regular basis here again!  If anyone is interested in seeing some wedding day pictures of my dress, flowers, venue or anything, let me know!!!

Thyroid

This post isn’t really an interesting one; It’s more of a rant.  Lately I have been feeling “off’. I can’t really describe it, just off.  I have been very lethargic, moody, and I have put on more weight in the past 3 months than I have in the past 3 years.  I am not sure if this is due to stress with my wedding coming up, or if it is something more.

I did a little bit of research, and I related to most of the symptoms associated with hypothyroidism.  Hypothyroidism, if you don’t know, is when your thyroid isn’t producing enough of the hormone thyroxine, which slows down your metabolism and whatnot.  It typically doesn’t effect people under 40, but can in some circumstances.  I did some family investigating since I am adopted and don’t know much of their medical backgrounds.  It turns out that both my birth grandma, birth mom, and both of my birth sisters have hypothyroidism!  That was enough for me to call my doctor to schedule a blood test.

I went to the lab for my blood test 2 days ago, and I am still anxiously waiting for my results.  It may be nothing, or it may be something… As bad as it sounds, I hope I do have it so I can get my body under control again.  I have been feeling like I don’t know what is happening with it.

Let’s hope I hear something today, or soon!

Do any of you suffer from hypothyroidism?  Any advice?

I have a YouTube channel!

Hey everyone! Guess what! I started a youtube channel so I can film some vlogs and tutorials along with this blog!

I did the 20 question tag, so you all can get to know me a little bit better! I had a lot of fun filming this, and hope you enjoy watching it!!

Let me know if you would like to see more vlogs or have any think you would like to see!

2 Months To Go!!!

I cannot even believe I am typing these words- I am getting married in TWO MONTHS!!!! Yes, you read that right.  Two months from today.  That is insane.  We have been engaged for 18 months now, and to think the wedding is so soon, is just unreal.  This weekend we are having a combo bachelor/bachelorette party thrown for us by my best friend and maid of honor, and then in 2 weeks we are having our separate parties!  Crazy! Looking at the calendar freaked me out, because every single weekend we have things going on until the wedding!  This past weekend I spent hours at both my dress fitting and making our invitations!  I will show an update on those once I get more done and can show you- they are so cute!!

Speaking of wedding dresses… I bought my dress with the intention of losing some weight before the big day… yeah… about that… I’ve gained 5lbs instead.  Now that I am running out of time, I am getting serious again.  I just can’t believe how fast time flies! I am going to start eating healthier and going to the gym around 5 times a week until the wedding (hopefully!!!) I would like to lose about 10lbs total for the big day.  I think I can do it!

I am really trying to get healthier per my “happiness project” and this will just take it one step farther!

“from my shower to yours”

Well, it happened! We had our wedding shower!  I cannot believe that it is actually over! It’s almost like a wedding; so much work and excitement goes into it, and then *poof* its done!

We had our shower at a well known Greek restaurant by our house, and it could not have gone better.  The food was delicious, the service was wonderful, and it seemed to be enjoyed by all!  We had about 85 people in attendance, and while that seems like a huge number (it is, actually) it never felt crowded or impersonal! We really wanted to keep the intimate feel to all of our wedding events, despite having such a large amount of people.

One of the things I am most excited to share with you all is the favor that I gave out!  We did a 3 tier soaps from the Wild Herb Soap Company in a glittery bag with a tag saying “From my shower to your”.  I thought it turned out amazing, and everyone seemed to love it!

Here is a little glimpse into our shower!

Overall, I am so sad that the shower is over, but so excited that our actual wedding day is in 3 months!!!

Let me know if you like wedding updates and ideas like this, or what you would like to know!

Update on the Happiness Project

Well, it happened… I feel off of the “happy” wagon. I had one bad day last week, and it set the everything up for a spiraling downfall.  I was so embarrassed by my “failure” that I was afraid to even blog about it!  But, I decided today to keep pushing through and start again.  I remembering hearing a wonderful analogy that stuck with me.  “If you break a plate, you wouldn’t go into the cabinet and break all the others”.  So, when life gets messy and complicated, just keep pushing through.

So, here I am.  Starting over on my happiness journey.  Step one: clean my house! haha

As some of you may know, I am getting married in a few short months, and I will be having my bridal shower next weekend!  If anyone is interested in seeing how I am organizing my shower, the favors, prizes, etc. let me know! I would love to share my planning experiences and wedding adventure with you all!

Changes for 2014

Can you even believe that is already 2014?? Where did 2013 go? I’m pretty sure I was still writing 2012 halfway through this past year! I couldn’t be more excited for 2014 though, with my wedding in May, Matt’s new company taking off, and hopefully renovating our kitchen and finishing our basement!  There will be lots of posts about that stuff 🙂

There are also many things that I am striving for personally in this new year:

  • I am going to try to stop watching so much TV and start reading more (No, Emily, Cosmo and Glamour don’t count)
  • I am going to focus less on the number on my scale, and more on my overall  health.
  • I am going to organize and declutter my life. (This will be a challenge for me…)
  • I am going to do one kind thing for someone every day, even it it means helping move someone’s box at work (happened today)
  • And most importantly, I am going to live life to the fullest each and every day.  I am going to wake up with the mantra “today is the first day of the rest of your life”  (quote from Shay of the Shaytards on YouTube)

I would love to hear about your changes for the new year, and what exciting things you have coming up!

The Sunshine Corner

Well, here we go!  This my third try at starting a blog, and I hope this is the last.  I’ve always wanted a place to share all of my hobbies and passions, so I created a home decor blog, a makeup obsession blog, and a lifestyle blog! I loved them all, but I felt like I couldn’t express all of my loves in the same place, so it got complicated and I stopped blogging.

I hope this can be the place I can share all of my favorite things and spread a little “sunshine”, and cheesy as that is!
